"The democratic wind that is blowing through Africa has as a byproduct very close contested elections in the recent past. Malawi is one of the countries that are witnessing very tight elections. Opposition parties formed a coalition in the effort to defeat the incumbent President. The challenge to the Malawian authorities and opposition parties alike is how they will receive and react to the final results of today's elections once announced."

The final results are expected on Thursday
