On July 29, 2009 Moldova held snap parliamentary elections. These elections followed the controversial April 5 elections that were plagued with accusations of vote rigging and resulted in demonstrations organized via Twitter and other social-networking sites.
One of IFES-Moldova’s responsibilities was to organize a public information campaign. The campaign’s efforts focused on asking people to verify their information on the Voters List and encouraging them to vote. To this effect, IFES-Moldova produced TV and radio spots, as well as ads for the internet and billboards. All efforts were coordinated with the Central Election Commission.
