The BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) program has seen great success in Jordan where at least 215 Jordanian government staff members have attended at least one BRIDGE module. BRIDGE is the world's most comprehensive professional development curriculum for election administrators. The Jordan Electoral Assistance Project was one of the first at IFES to adopt a comprehensive approach to incorporating the BRIDGE curriculum into its program. After the intensely busy preparation period for the 2007 elections, IFES and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) shifted the focus of the program to long term capacity building and professional development, making BRIDGE the core of that process. Although IFES Jordan and the Jordanian MoI have made significant progress, a lot of work still remains to be done to ensure BRIDGE becomes fully integrated in the work of election administrators in Jordan. The sound start made through 2008 and 2009 will help tremendously in achieving that goal.
