Bill Sweeney, IFES president and CEO, attended the swearing in ceremony of Dr. Rajiv Shah, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s new administrator. Dr. Shah is the 16th Administrator of USAID. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton presided at the event and administered the oath of office to Dr. Shah. The ceremony took place at the USAID headquarters in the Ronald Reagan Building.
Shah was nominated by President Obama to be Administrator of USAID on November 10, 2009. He will be responsible for managing U.S. foreign assistance, including support to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty and engaging in democratic reforms.
