BRIDGE is a professional development training program that has been used by election officials throughout the world.

Thirteen staff members of Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHAC) recently became accredited BRIDGE Project trainers. Three more officials are expected to be accredited in August, bringing the total number of Iraqi BRIDGE trainers to 18.

BRIDGE, which stands for Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections, is a series of professional training modules designed specifically for election officials. As accredited trainers, the 18 IHEC officials will be able to conduct BRIDGE training sessions for poll workers and election managers across the country on a wide curriculum of election administration topics.

The BRIDGE Project was developed by IFES, the Australian Electoral Commission, International IDEA, the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Electoral Assistance Division. For more information, visit www.bridge-project.org.
