This July IFES signed two memorandums of understanding (MoU). The first, signed on 21 July, was for six Georgian universities to establish a new civic education course to be launched this fall. The course, offered to first and second year students, is intended to strengthen students’ understanding of civic responsibility and encourage their participation in public life.

The second MoU will be signed on 29 July with the Republic of Korea to share resources and expertise in elections management in a new set of initiatives. Through this agreement, IFES and the South Korean National Election Commsion plan to facilitate training, research and information exchanges between election officials, media, civil society and nongovernmental organizations worldwide. They also will support the work and mission of the Association of Asian Election Agencies.
