IFES and Kosovo’s Election Commission Extend Partnership to 2012

During the 20th annual ACEEEO conference in Budapest, Hungary, IFES President and CEO Bill Sweeney and Valdete Daka, president of the Kosovo Central Election Commission (CEC), signed a Letter of Agreement which extends the partnership between IFES and the CEC of Kosovo through March 2012.

This agreement recognizes the close cooperation of IFES and the CEC in the past, and defines future initiatives to further improve the quality of election administration in Kosovo. 

IFES has been active in Kosovo since 1998, providing assistance to support free and fair elections. IFES supported the CEC is areas of civic education, public outreach, political finance monitoring and election administration. Most recently, IFES assisted the CEC in its administration of local elections in the 2009 and 2010 general assembly elections, the first national elections since independence in 2008.
