In the Dominican Republic, IFES will begin a program to promote and increase the political participation of voters with disabilities. The project will support the Central Electoral Board ahead of the presidential election in May 2012.

IFES will provide guidance on administering the vote to persons with disabilities and tailor civic education efforts to target voters with disabilities. Beyond work with the election commission, IFES will collaborate with disabled persons' organizations to increase the dialogue with political parties about the rights and needs of persons with disabilities.
