To celebrate its silver anniversary, IFES is releasing monthly podcasts on current efforts for democracy around the world looked at through the lens of 25 years in the field of democracy-promotion. This first podcast focuses on Russia’s latest demonstrations for credible elections following the December 2011 vote for parliament. Irina Zaslavskaya, a native of St. Petersburg who facilitated IFES’ first interaction with Russia’s election commission, talks to us about helping empower the first post-Soviet election management bodies and the yearning for dignity before one’s government.
