IFES Democracy Fellowships

IFES awards two to four $5,000 Democracy Studies Fellowships to bring outstanding graduate students to Washington, D.C. to engage in democracy development research.

Based at IFES' F. Clifton White Applied Research Center for Democracy and Elections, Fellows have access to IFES experts and conduct independent research with IFES mentors for 6 to 8 weeks. At the end of the fellowship, fellows must complete a paper for presentation to the public or IFES colleagues.
IFES Democracy Fellowships are awarded on an annual basis with flexible start dates. Please see links on side for eligibility and application details.
