In December 2011, Ukraine adopted a new parliamentary electoral law.  Among other things, the law introduced a new electoral system, under which half of the country’s deputies would be elected in single-member districts and half through proportional representation in a single nationwide constituency.

Parliamentary Elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 2012.

In May 2011, the Ukrainian government presented a draft parliamentary election law. Among the notable changes in the draft law is the definition of a new electoral system. In the proposed legislation, half of the country’s deputies would be elected in single-member districts, as compared to the fully proportional representation system currently in use.
