Elections in Iraq: September 21 Iraqi Kurdistan Region Parliamentary Elections

The Iraqi Kurdistan Region Parliament elections on September 21, 2013, will see residents of this region elect representatives to replace the members of parliament elected in 2009. The Iraqi Kurdistan Region Parliament is the governing body of Iraqi Kurdistan.

The parliament is made up of representatives elected every four years. A total of 111 seats are up for election in an open list system across three governorates of region: Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Dahuk. Of the 111-member unicameral body, 11 seats are reserved for non-Kurdish minority communities of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
