Strengthening Capacity of Election Commission
Since the summer of 2008, IFES has been focusing on strengthening the capacity of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to properly plan and organize democratic elections. By employing modern training methodologies and improved teaching techniques, IFES is improving the CEC Training Unit's ability to effectively train all 350+ District Electoral Council officials and 18,000+ Precinct Electoral Bureau members. In addition, IFES advises the CEC on improvements to the voter registration process, polling day procedures, results management system, complaints mechanism and adherence to campaign finance regulations. IFES continues to guide the CEC's Public Outreach Unit to improve dialogue with key stakeholders.
