Guarding Against Fraud

In 2009 IFES released the book Guidelines for Understanding, Adjudicating, and Resolving Disputes in Elections (GUARDE). Since its release, IFES has been using the seven standards outlined in GUARDE in a variety of challenging contexts around the world. These standards have been used to conduct assessments, provide recommendations for election management and election dispute resolution bodies, and establish training curricula.

In this episode of Dialogues on Democracy, IFES experts Katherine Ellena, Juliette Schmidt and Typhaine Roblot discuss their experiences using GUARDE standards to address issues of election integrity and transparency. While GUARDE has been used globally, this podcast highlights how it has been utilized in Afghanistan, Cambodia and the Maldives.
