2013 IFES Democracy Awards Dinner: Dr. Leonardo Valdés Zurita and IFE Introduction

Published

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) honors the head of Mexico's Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) with its 2013 Charles T. Manatt Democracy Award. IFE President Dr. Leonardo Valdés Zurita has set a high standard for promoting and exchanging good electoral practices around the world. Since IFE's establishment in 1990, Mexico went from one of the most closed political systems in the world to a respected democracy. IFES has been collaborating with IFE since 1993 to advance democracy in Mexico and to empower citizens to become active participants in the electoral process. IFE and IFES also have a strong partnership working to engage national and international stakeholders in electoral matters.

This video touches on the partnership between IFES and IFE; and highlights the excellent work done by IFE under the leadership of Dr. Valdés to promote democratic values in Mexico.
