Laurette Bennhold-Samaan, Director, Human Resources
Laurette Bennhold-Samaan currently serves as director of Human Resources, providing HR strategy, policy and programming guidance to IFES' headquarters and international operations that currently include electoral assistance and democratic institution building in over 30 countries.
Bennhold-Samaan is an international executive with over thirty years of experience in world-class companies and organizations including Accenture, World Bank, Honda of America, and the Peace Corps. Her expertise includes business alignment, strategic planning, policy development, training management, and partnering with corporate, government, educational, and international organizations. She is a passionate leader known for integrity, reliability, and pragmatic approach to empowering people across borders and cultures.
Bennhold-Samaan previously served as chief operating officer for Aperian Global (Global talent development consulting company serving one third of the Fortune Global 100 and academic institutions, international organizations, and NGOs in over 85 countries.) Prior to that she was managing director of HR Global Mobility at Aperian Global and Accenture’s senior manager of Global Mobility supporting international assignments. Bennhold-Samaan has been a trail blazer in most of her positions; co-creating the global mobility department at World Bank and as the first cross-cultural specialist with the Peace Corps. Bennhold-Samaan delivered and evaluated programs in more than 50 countries worldwide, and coached host country national teams across Europe, Africa, South America, the Caribbean, and Asia.
Bennhold-Samaan currently serves on the board of the International Society for Intercultural, Education, Training and Research (SIETAR) and African Education Network (AEN). She holds a Master in International Affairs focusing on cross-cultural communications and international business and has authored and co-authored several books. Bennhold-Samaan has been on the faculty with the University of Maryland International Division in Europe, Kingston College, and Strayer University. Born in Egypt, Bennhold-Samaan has lived in Nigeria, Germany and Canada and currently resides in Virginia.
