Antonio Spinelli, Senior Electoral Adviser
Antonio Spinelli currently serves as a Senior Electoral Adviser for the International Foundations for Electoral Systems (IFES). He was previously the IFES Chief of Party for Jordan. Spinelli has worked with IFES on several projects since 1998, providing his expertise as a Chief of Party in Egypt, Strategic Planning Specialist in Kosovo and Liberia, Referendum Adviser and Election Administration Expert in Sudan, Election Specialist in Indonesia, Chief of Party in Yemen and Georgia and as a Senior Electoral Adviser in South Africa. Spinelli also authored the IFES publication “Strategic Planning for Effective Electoral Management: A Practical Guide for Electoral Management Bodies to Conduct a Strategic Planning Exercise.”
Spinelli brings over 24 years of advisory, managerial, operational, programmatic and analytical experience in electoral-related subjects, projects, programs and other initiatives at a global, regional and country level, primarily spent in transitional democratic settings and in conflict/post-conflict environments. He has undertaken numerous assignments and missions in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and in the Middle East. He has collaborated and worked with the United Nations, the European Commission, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the International Organization for Migration, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and various international donors.
