Léone Hettenbergh, Chief of Party, Côte d’Ivoire
Léone Hettenbergh currently serves as the International Foundation for Electoral Systems’ (IFES) Chief of Party in Côte d’Ivoire. She has over 20 years of experience in development and electoral program management, developing policy, mapping strategy, and consolidating democratic processes. Most recently, she served as an Election Management Expert and Chief Technical Adviser for the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Electoral Assistance Project in Burkina Faso where she coordinated and implemented the project’s main objectives
Hettenbergh has also served as an expert and key adviser for a number of international development and electoral assistance programs throughout her career, including for UN Missions, the UNDP, IFES, and the European Union, among others. She graduated from l’Institut Supérieur des Traducteurs et Interprètes de L’Etat in Brussels, Belgium and The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and also spent many years working in academia as a professor at several universities including Johns Hopkins, American University, and The George Washington University. Hettenbergh speaks fluent French, English, Dutch, and German.
