The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is co-hosting  with the State Department, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Mission to the UN — a UN Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) side-event on disability-inclusive democracy. Building on the 2021 Summit for Democracy, this side event will explore innovative approaches and challenges in promoting disability-inclusive democracy globally. The intent is to crowdsource the most significant issues stakeholders identify in the areas of access to voting, elections and civic engagement. The information collected will inform actions stakeholders in government and civil society can take to improve access and inclusion for persons with disabilities in local, state and national election cycles.
