Elections in Slovakia: 2020 Parliamentary Elections

On February 29, the Slovak Republic will hold elections for the National Council. A total of 2,736 registered candidates are competing for 150 seats, of which 76 will be assigned to the majority party or coalition.

These elections may result in a shake-up in the composition of the National Council. The current ruling party, Direction – Social Democracy, is accused of widespread corruption and other challenges. Opposition parties have recently been gaining in popularity, posing a challenge to the ruling party’s hegemony.
