On May 12, Timor-Leste will hold elections for all 65 seats in the National Parliament. The last parliamentary elections were held on July 22, 2017, and, despite lengthy negotiations, no party was able to form a majority coalition.

The president of the Republic of Timor-Leste dissolved the National Parliament on January 26, 2018, making a new election necessary. The decree announcing the new election date came into effect on February 20, 2018.
