IFES' 2011 Democracy Awards Dinner was held on 15 September in Washington, D.C. The event was attended by current and former members of Congress, foreign dignitaries and international development professionals, and included remarks by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Judge Johann Kriegler of South Africa, former Senator and Republican National Committee Chairman Bill Brock, IFES President and CEO Bill Sweeney and IFES Board Chairman Peter Kelly. Bill Press was master of ceremonies. The evening featured a tribute video to Amb. Charles T. Manatt produced by his son, Dan Manatt.
