Following its 2007 general elections, Kenya experienced widespread violence that left approximately 1,100 people dead and more than 600,000 displaced from their homes. In early 2008, the International Criminal Court (ICC) began investigating the violence. It was recently announced that  Kenya will revamp its judicial system to ensure its courts can also address the incidents.
