Omar Fouad Abdalla, Electoral Management Program Adviser, Malawi
Omar Abdalla currently serves as the electoral management program adviser for the International Foundation for Electoral Systems’ (IFES) “Malawi Electoral Integrity Project.” Abdalla is a democracy and governance specialist with expertise in electoral program design, management and implementation; technical assistance to election management bodies and electoral stakeholders; strategy planning and development; electoral legal and constitutional support; civil society strengthening; consensus building; capacity building and assessment; policy analysis and reform; voter awareness; monitoring and evaluation; and administrative and financial program oversight. Abdalla previously served as IFES’ democracy and elections technical adviser for the Middle East and North Africa and deputy country director for Egypt. Throughout his career, he has advised numerous senior judicial, governmental and electoral officials on best practices pertaining to policy and legal reform, electoral governance and citizen engagement.
Abdalla holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the American University in Cairo. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
