Peter D. Tietjen, Senior Manager, Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening
Peter D. Tietjen serves as the senior manager and lead International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) representative to the administration team for the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS). Created in 1995, CEPPS is a joint venture between IFES, the National Democratic Institute and the International Republican Institute and is the sole holder of the Global Elections and Political Transitions (GEPT) Leader with Associates Award (LWA) from the United States Agency for International Development. Since its inception in 2015, GEPT has provided more than $330 million in funding to CEPPS to carry out worldwide programs in election administration strengthening, political party development, observation of elections, and civil society support.
Tietjen has worked with CEPPS since 2011 and joined IFES in 2008 as the business development administrator. Prior to working with CEPPS, he worked as a grant administrator and on numerous new business development opportunities, including the competitions for both the CEPPS III (2008-15) and GEPT (2015-20) LWAs and more than 150 associate award proposals. Prior to joining IFES, he worked in grant and contract administration and new business development for the Center for International Private Enterprise, National Endowment for Democracy, International Research and Exchanges Board and Urban Institute. He also has expertise in the fields of asset-based finance and equipment leasing.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College and a Juris Doctor from the American University Washington College of Law.
