Shalva Kipshidze, Chief of Party, Nigeria
Shalva Kipshidze currently serves as IFES chief of party in Nigeria. He brings over 20 years of experience in providing technical assistance to election management bodies in Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South Asia.
Kipshidze most recently served as IFES chief of party in Libya. Prior to this he served as a voter registration and election operations adviser in Moldova, Pakistan and Afghanistan with the United Nations Development Programme. He previously served as IFES chief of party in Liberia, where he provided critical support to the National Elections Commission to successfully conduct the 2011 national voter registration, general elections and referendum, and as senior voter registration adviser with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Tajikistan.
Prior to this Kipshidze was chief electoral data management and election operations adviser to the National Election Commission of Sierra Leone. He has also worked for the United Nations in Afghanistan, Jordan and Iraq and the European Union in Lebanon. On several occasions Kipshidze has worked as a staff member and consultant for the European Commission and the International Organization for Migration.
Kipshidze holds a bachelor’s degree from Tbilisi State University in Georgia and master’s degrees from the Central European University in Prague, Czech Republic, and the University of Newcastle in the United Kingdom.
