The guide provides a thorough description of the local administration in Chile, its election process and the role of the local authorities in the political life of Chile. The guide is meant to familiarize the Chilean citizens with the new reforms introduced by the political and social sectors in the municipal structure in order to bring the democratic process to the communal level as well. The guide refers to the functions of the municipalities, how they are elected and the attributions of the mayor and the regional councils. Additionally, the guide contains voting instructions and samples of election ballots, as well as an Election Calendar with the most important dates in the 1992 elections.
