Despite the ongoing and increasing violence over the last months, Iraqi citizens will elect members of the Council of Representatives (CoR) on April 30. The members of the CoR will then elect the Iraqi President and Prime Minister.
Elections will take place in 18 provinces, and will decide all 328 members of the CoR. A total of 9,040 candidates, including 2,612 women, will run in the elections.
The Independent High Electoral Commission has taken steps to increase the level of information available for voters, including publication of election-related material on their website.
