Country In Brief

From June to December 2008, with the goal of contributing to successful transitional elections in Cote d'Ivoire, IFES provided the Ivoirian Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) with technical support in the form of operational planning, staff training, development of procedures and regulations, publication of procedural guides and general advisory services. IFES also sponsored stakeholder dialogues with a view to fully articulating a viable framework for free and fair elections.

IFES worked in Côte d'Ivoire towards achieving an increased cooperation and open dialogue on the technical aspects of the electoral process; an enhanced capacity of the Independent Electoral Commission to carry out its mandate; and an enhanced capacity of the CEI to fulfil its role as an impartial, independent and transparent election management body.
