Although young women can vote (at 18+) and run for office, women face far more obstacles than men. There are threats of violence (especially of a sexual nature), and women are not taken seriously, especially if they are young due to stereotypes about young women ‘knowing nothing’ in life. It is also much harder to get a young woman to be voted into any kind of senior leadership role because of this. -Young non-binary person with a disability, 20 to 24 years old, from rural Canada
