Democratic Resilience Lab

The Democratic Resilience Lab emerged from IFES’s strategic plan mid-point review in 2022 with the goal of resisting democratic backsliding by building resilience into democratic systems and institutions. While much attention has been paid to the form a democratic government should take, not enough has been paid to the political commitment and social cohesion required to ensure its ability to resist concerted attack. The Democratic Resilience Lab will bring together experts from civil society, think tanks, academia, and the private sector to develop innovative programming concepts, review the impact of pilot programs, and refine program tools based on those experiences.
