As Bangladesh continues its journey to historic elections, IFES is proud to stand in support of the country’s election leadership and their preparations for the future.
IFES Delivers Four-Day Course on "Planning and Design for Electoral Training” in Bangladesh
“This is the best training I have done in 25 years!!”
This was the reaction of a participant in IFES’ four-day “Leading Training in Elections” (LTE) course for 25 senior officials from the Electoral Training Institute (ETI) and the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC) Secretariat. The course was hosted by ETI in Dhaka from August 1-4, 2025, and facilitated by IFES Senior Global Advisor Rushdi Nackerdien. Going into the one-year anniversary of the country’s transition away from authoritarian rule, this training was buoyed by the energy of new beginnings.
Nackerdien led a highly interactive course, utilizing a range of tools and methods to ensure hands-on learning and a strong level of retention. These included “Mentimeter,” an award-winning interactive presentation platform, and rotational group planning.
In the words of one participant, “we have to incorporate modern technology/mobile apps in our training.”
Elections worldwide are growing increasingly complex. Elections leaders must deal with rising workloads, intense public and political scrutiny, and international demands for quality elections. And every election cycle, elections leaders must train large numbers of citizens and temporary workers to staff polling stations and electoral operations.
For this reason, IFES’ cutting-edge "Leading Training in Elections" course is more urgent than ever as it empowers training managers to strengthen the next generation of electoral officials worldwide.
After the training, one participant reflected, “this course has motivated us to be more innovative in our approach."
The IFES course drives strategic competencies for designing impactful training programs, optimizing resource management, fostering continuous improvement, and building a global community of practice for long-term collaboration.
As Bangladesh continues its journey to historic elections, IFES is proud to stand in support of the country’s election leadership and their preparation for the future.
