Juliette Schmidt is a senior elections, democracy and governance expert with over 20 years of experience in more than 25 countries, providing technical assistance and program management for large, complex programs in rapidly evolving contexts. She has contributed significantly to IFES election communication, conflict and security, and leadership portfolios - leading assessments and analysis, developing and delivering training, and conducting innovative new research in the areas of political party engagement, electoral leadership, crisis and strategic communication, disinformation, and election risks related to climate change. 

Previously she served as Deputy Regional Director for Asia at IFES, responsible for a large team implementing critical electoral reform programming in ten countries.  Prior to that, she led the global Partners in Humanity Program at Search for Common Ground, working to transform and mitigate entrenched conflict and polarization.

Schmidt has served on a number of boards and advisory committees (including for Peace & Development - Caritas Canada and Essex County Youth Diversion) and is an Associate at the Parliamentary Centre of Canada. She is fluent in English and French.
