Mary Au is the International Foundation for Electoral Systems' (IFES) Senior Director of Finance. Au started focusing on financial and organizational management when she was appointed chief financial officer of a government organization in Massachusetts, assisting victims of crime in 2001. Mary has managed finance and operations across multiple locations and funding streams for companies with revenue as small as $3M to over $300M, working with various socially minded companies and non-government organizations (NGOs), both domestically and internationally. Since coming to the Washington, DC, area, Au has worked with small and large organizations – from associations, to government contractors, private companies – but her heart and passion remain working with NGOs.
Au has traveled the world to conduct trainings on matters including fraud prevention, compliance requirements, financial systems, and best practices for procurement. In her free time, she plays “Uber driver” to her teenager.
