Shana Kaiser is the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Deputy Regional Director for Africa. Shana has over 15 years of experience supporting electoral and democratic processes with a focus on democratic transitions, youth participation, support to EMBs, capacity building, and management. Prior to joining IFES, she spent 12 years with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), where she led a nine-member elections support consortium in Myanmar, country offices in Tunisia and Egypt, and the Institute’s regional MENA program. Shana has also worked with IFES in Mali, Libya, and Bangladesh and has been a member of the core team and an observer in various international election observation missions. She is an accredited BRIDGE facilitator and holds a Master of Environmental Studies from York University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia.
