Democracy's Building Blocks
In an essay entitled “Democracy’s Building Blocks,” Gail Day argues that in order for South Africa to become a democratic, peaceful, and prosperous nation, the people must first understand what makes a society peaceful and the leaders must be pressured to create such a society. Day continues to press for the need to institute new checks and balances into the South African constitution and calls on the South African people to be at the forefront of this democratic movement. Participants' Manual for the voter trainers' programme
Published by the Independent Mediation Service of South Africa in 1993, “Participants’ Manual for the Voter Trainers’ Program” provides exercises to ensure fair and responsible behavior in voter trainers’ classes. This document provides a series of illustrations of different conflicts between the trainer and the trainees and asks the applicant to provide resolutions to these potential scenarios in order to test each applicant.
