Regional Director on “The Elections We Want” in Africa
As part of its annual report, the Wilson Center Africa Program asked IFES Regional Director for Africa Rushdi Nackerdien to contribute an essay on recent African elections. His piece, “The Elections We Want,” covered 2017 elections in Angola, Rwanda, Liberia, Senegal, the Gambia, and Kenya, and their implications for election practitioners moving forward.

Information about Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Voters
“Information about Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Voters” was published in 1999 in lead up to the general elections that were held in Kazakhstan on October 10 and 24 of that year. The booklet describes the voting rights of Kazakhstani’s including universal adult suffrage. Also, there are sections on topics such as election financing and canvassing as well as the timing and place of the election.

“Guide to Voters on Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan” is an informative brochure, available in both Kazakh and Russian, published in 1998 by the Central Electoral Commission in Kazakhstan, in lead up to the January 10, 1999 Presidential Election in Kazakhstan. The document is a guide explaining voters some of the following election-related topics: the structure and function of the electoral system, voters’ rights and responsibilities, rules and procedures for the elections, as well as instructions on how to fill out a ballot.

“Project Venezuela with Respect to its Citizens” is a flyer, available in Spanish, issued in 1998 in Venezuela. The flyer is propaganda for one of the leading presidential candidates in pre-electoral polls for the December 6, 1998 elections.

“Let There be No Electoral Fraud” is a civic education poster, available in Spanish, issued in 1995 by the Civil Association “Queremos Elegir” and the School of Neighbors of Venezuela as part of the 1995 Electoral Campaign of the Civil Society. The poster advertises for no fraud during the upcoming elections.
