Une caravane de la paix en Guinée
Depuis mardi 15 juin et jusqu’au lundi 19 juin, des Guinéennes sillonnent leur pays au sein de la « Caravane de la paix ». Leur objectif est de promouvoir et d’apaiser les esprits avant les premières élections démocratiques qui se tiendront le 27 juin prochain. Plusieurs mouvements de la société civile et l’IFES, la Fondation internationale pour les systèmes internationaux, sont à l’origine de cette initiative. Le régime politique qui a été mis en place en Guinée dans le cadre de la Loi Fondamentale du 23 décembre 1990, renforcé par la Loi Constitutionnelle du 11 novembre 2001, est celui présidentiel avec une large prépondérance du Président de la République, Chef de l’Exécutif.

“Campagne nationale d'éducation à la citoyenneté” is a pamphlet from May 2005, available in French, which briefly describes 14 rights or duties that are the responsibility of citizens of Guinea. The document, published with the help of IFES, explains the importance of a birth certificate, the benefits of paying taxes and the civil duty to register and vote.

“Campagne nationale d’education electorale” is a pamphlet from May 2005, available in French, which educates readers about their right and responsibility to vote. The document, published with the help of IFES, prepares citizens for the 2005 Presidential Election in Guinea where they are strongly encouraged to vote. Additionally, the pamphlet provides information about voter registration and what to look for in a candidate.

Campagne nationale d'education a la citoyenneté : Conference - Debat
“Campagne nationale d’education a la citoyenneté: Conférence – Débat” is a pamphlet from 2005, available in French, which explains the electoral system and the different facets of the constitution in Guinea – mostly importantly it tries to educate citizens on how they can have access to the government and its services by participating in politics. The document, published with the help of IFES, contains a glossary of terms connected to human rights and a letter serving as an example for how to file a complaint.

Democracy, Economy and Gender In Uganda: A Report of a National Sample Survey
In the run-up to Uganda's referendum of June 2000, a national survey was conducted of a representative cross-section of 2271 adult Ugandan citizens. The survey covered all four regions of the country (northern, eastern, central and western), including 36 of the 45 administrative districts. The purpose of the survey was to assess popular attitudes to democracy, economy, civil society and gender.

Papers on Referendum, Politics and Religion
“Papers on Referendum, Politics and Religion” is a booklet that was written in 2000 by Micheal Kaggwa. The literature is composed of three papers: one on religion and politics, one on the referendum and its implication on Uganda’s political development and one on why supporters of political parties should participate in the referendum. The papers seek to enhance voter efficacy towards democratic values and to address the role of religion and religious leaders in Uganda’s political discourse.

Facts about the Referendum
“Facts about the Referendum” was published in 2000 in lead up to the national referendum on Uganda’s political system. The vote would determine whether Uganda would remain in its no-party “Movement” system or switch to a “Multi-Party” system or other form of democracy. This civic education booklet explains why the referendum is taking place, how the multi party and no party systems differ and how the actually process of voting takes place.

“Guideline for Accredited Monitors for the Referendum Slated for 29th June- 2000,” is a pamphlet published in 2000 during the lead up to that year’s referendum on Uganda’s political system. The pamphlet describes what the roles of the international observers will be in the 2000 elections. This includes verifying that the electoral process is carried out within the confines of the law and acting with impartiality as stewards of the election.
