Regional Director on “The Elections We Want” in Africa
As part of its annual report, the Wilson Center Africa Program asked IFES Regional Director for Africa Rushdi Nackerdien to contribute an essay on recent African elections. His piece, “The Elections We Want,” covered 2017 elections in Angola, Rwanda, Liberia, Senegal, the Gambia, and Kenya, and their implications for election practitioners moving forward.

Sierra Leone Votes in National Elections
Presidential and Parliamentary Elections were held in Sierra Leone on August 11, 2007. National and International Election Observers were present to monitor the vote for free and fair results. Despite bad weather, citizens arrived early, and eagerly voted within the regulated precincts.

The National Registry of Electors
“The National Registry of Electors” is a leaflet from 1998, available in both a French and English copy, explaining how the National Register of Electors works and what how it benefits Canadian citizens when they vote in Federal Elections. The document, published by Elections Canada, states the benefits of this of this nationwide database of voters – voter registration is no longer a long, costly process.

Sierra Leone Pre-Election Assessment, November 1995
This Pre-Election Assessment from Sierra Leone focused on two issues: computer and information management needs of the Commission, and the overall status of INEC preparations to hold elections on February 26, 1996. Noveau: Scrutin electronique
“Nouveau: Scrutin Electronique” is an August 1995 pamphlet, available in French, which provides instructions and basic information on the Municipal Election set to happen on the November 5th 1995 in the town of Hull in Canada. The document, published by the Bureau of the President of the Election in Hull, includes a map of electoral districts, information on how to register and vote and most importantly it informs readers that this election will feature electronic ballot boxes which will count votes automatically as ballots are cast.

“Register of Electors” is a flyer from 1995, published in both French and English copies by Elections Canada, which explains the “register of electors” project - a register of electors intended as a national database of voters shared among all electoral jurisdictions. The document explains the goals and history of the project and how it will benefit Canadian voters.
