“Free+Young=Our Democracy” is a civic education poster, available in Spanish, developed in Paraguay in 1998 by IFES in lead up to the May 10, 1998 General elections and intended to educate voters on the importance of voting. The poster contains election-oriented information, such as the time and place of voting, what are voters voting for as well as the voting procedures.

“Justice=Democracy” is a civic education pamphlet, available in Spanish, issued in 1997 in Paraguay by the “Decidamos” group as part of a national drive program to stimulate Paraguayan voters to register in the Permanent Civil Registry in order to be able to vote in the 1998 General Elections. The pamphlet briefly explains how to successfully register.

Election Official Training in Bangladesh: Project Overview and Recommendations
This report details the IFES Election Official Training Assistance Project undertaken in October and November 1995. The document focuses on the technical assistance and commodities support to the Secretariat in support of its newly established Electoral Training Institute. The report details the multi-tiered project which helped prepare the Training Institute for election officials throughout Bangladesh. The discussion turns to the preparation of manuals, the development of an Election Official Pledge and Code of Conduct and details the intricacies of IFES work in assisting in Bangladeshi elections.

Las Conquistas Juridicas de las Mujeres
“Women’s Juridical Conquests” is a civic education handbook, available in Spanish, issued in 1995 by Olga Caballero Aquino and Rafael Denida on behalf of CEPEM and it is meant to familiarize readers with the juridical achievements attained by women throughout time. The handbook briefly lists the situation of women from all around the world, from the ancient times until present days, and later goes on to describe the juridical situation of women in Paraguay.

“1992 Constitution. What are you Doing Here, Kid?” is a civic education comic handbook, available in Guarani, issued in 1993 as part of the “Decidamos” Public Expression Campaign in Paraguay. The handbook is meant to familiarize Paraguayans with the new Constitution adopted in 1992 and to explain the democratic changes that stand at the basis of it. The comic briefly mentions the reason behind the adoption of the 1992 constitution and the advantages it would bring to the Paraguayan people.

The civic education material is part of the “Civic Education for a Democratic Coexistence” project in Paraguay that wishes to create an environment for the development of the values that consolidate the democratic culture of its citizens.
