Political Finance in Post-Conflict Societies
This study of political finance in post-conflict society identifies lessons learned from international donor-funded efforts to support political processes in post-conflict environments in general and the funding of political parties and campaign finance in particular. The document consists of eight case studies that seek to improve our understanding not only of the political dynamics of post-conflict situations but also of how to rally international support for holding elections and supporting democratization under such circumstances.

“Building a Safer Country for All” is a civic education discussion guidebook, available in Spanish, issued by the Department of Political Science within the University of the Andes, Colombia. The guidebook is intended to encourage community participation in the effort to reduce violence and crime in Colombia through various means such as increasing the programs of social development, educating people in the spirit of civic and moral values, to stimulate young people to take part in community activities and/or to strengthen the judicial system and reform the police. Additionally, the guidebook contains some surveys.

Published in 1993 by the Electoral Reform Coalition in New Zealand, “MMP: Voting for Party Lists” advocates for the implementation of the Mixed Member Proportional system of electing New Zealand’s members of parliament on the basis that it provides more freedom for citizens to inflict change in government policy. “Legal Paper Nr. 98126 E” is an informative document, available in Spanish, issued in 1990 by the MANO, a student government political party from the Nocturnal High school of Limon, Costa Rica, and addressed to the School’s Student Electoral Tribunal. The document is a letter of registration by MANO (”Authentic Nocturnal Organized Movement”) to the School’s Student Electoral Tribunal, presenting the student political party’s members, program, symbol and flag.
