“Your Guide to Voting in the 1996 General Elections” was published by Elections, New Zealand in 1996 in preparation for the October 12th, 1999 general elections. This booklet provides voter enrollment information, voting procedures, maps of electorates, a complete listing of polling stations, and common questions and answers. The voting instructions are provided in English, Chinese, Tongan, Korean, Maori, Cook Island Maori, Samoan, Tokelauan, and Niuean. A party list and a sample ballot are also provided in this booklet.

“Programme pour des Elections Justes Libres et Transparentes is a short report from 1996, available in French, where the Konrad Adenauer Foundation outlines the goals of the Foundation in organizing fair, free and transparent elections in Africa – this specific document was circulated in Mali. Other goals include strengthening civil society and encouraging research on problem solving. “Qu’est-ce qui se passe dans notre Commune?” is a comic strip from 1993, available in French, intended to give readers a better understanding of the decentralization happening in Mali. The document was created by the Support Program for Decentralization and funded by the Swiss Association for International Cooperation. Topics covered in the comic strip include Communal Elections, candidate qualifications for the Communal Council and how to vote.

MMP and the Economy
“MMP and the Economy” is a pamphlet published in 1993 by the Electoral Reform Coalition (ERC) which argues for the implementation of the Mixed Member Proportional proposed system of electing members of the New Zealand parliament. This pamphlet rejects the assertion that such a system would lead to economic ruin, arguing instead that the MMP would actually promote government stability. This ERC pamphlet also leaves readers the opportunity to donate money to the campaign to implement the MMP system into New Zealand.

MMP : Voting for Party Lists
Published in 1993 by the Electoral Reform Coalition in New Zealand, “MMP: Voting for Party Lists” advocates for the implementation of the Mixed Member Proportional system of electing New Zealand’s members of parliament on the basis that it provides more freedom for citizens to inflict change in government policy. Basic questions about the party lists are provided as well as further reasons for the implementation of the MMP system including increased voter freedom, flexibility, and fair elections.
