Celebrating 26 Years of the American with Disabilities Act
On July 26, 1990, the United States passed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark law increasing access to basic rights for persons with disabilities in the country. The ADA’s passage was the result of decades of advocacy by citizens with disabilities, following other successful legal reforms such as Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, which established nondiscrimination of persons with disabilities in federally-funded programs as a right.

AGENDA Produces Regional Research Report on Disability Access and Inclusion
In February 2016, the General Election Network for Disability Access (AGENDA) published Disability Access and Inclusion in the Political Processes of Four Southeast Asian Countries, providing key insights from Southeast Asia written by local disabled persons’ organizations.

Disability Inclusion in the Voter Registration Processes
IFES’ General Election Network for Disability Access program has worked with the Cambodian Disabled People’s Organization to provide Cambodia's election commission with evidence-based recommendations on how to address the rights of persons with disabilities in the country’s voter registration process.

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) will honor former Chairman Attahiru Jega of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Congressman Ed Royce (R-Calif.) with its 2015 Charles T. Manatt Democracy Award.

Women’s Election and Leadership Training Program
The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) has implemented the Women’s Election and Leadership Program in several countries to develop the capacity of women to participate in the election process as election officials and to develop leadership skills among women. These programs provide a blend of technical knowledge and soft skills to enable trainees to effectively use the knowledge and skills gained in electoral roles.

“Election Guide” is a voter guide published in 1970 by the Pennsylvania Department of State, in lead up to the May 19, 1970 General Primary Election and the November 3, 1970 General Election, and intended to provide voters with general information on elections, voter registration, how to run for office, how to vote by absentee ballot, expenses accounts, and the ways elections are held. IFES’ 2014 U.S. Election Program Fosters Dialogue on Voting Rights, Campaign Finance, Women’s Political Participation and More Critical Topics
IFES hosted the 2014 U.S. Election Program which featured lively presentations and discussions about the nuances and idiosyncrasies of the U.S. electoral system. Highlights of the 2014 USEP
From November 2-5, 2014, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) gathered nearly 150 participants from 55 countries for the 2014 U.S. Election Program (USEP). This year’s USEP was the 12th hosted by IFES since 1992. This flagship event brings together election officials, parliamentarians and diplomats from around the world to observe and learn about the U.S. electoral system as well as discuss elections and voting from comparative international perspectives.

IFES’ Fifth Annual Charles T. Manatt Democracy Awards Dinner
On October 1, 2014, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) hosted the fifth annual Charles T. Manatt Democracy Awards dinner. This year’s awardees included Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-Md.). IFES also honored Board of Directors Chairman Peter Kelly and Vice Chair William Hybl, who are stepping down from their leadership responsibilities after decades of service to not only IFES, but to the causes of freedom and democracy.
