Regional Director on “The Elections We Want” in Africa
As part of its annual report, the Wilson Center Africa Program asked IFES Regional Director for Africa Rushdi Nackerdien to contribute an essay on recent African elections. His piece, “The Elections We Want,” covered 2017 elections in Angola, Rwanda, Liberia, Senegal, the Gambia, and Kenya, and their implications for election practitioners moving forward.

Kosovo Motivational Diploma Spot
The general theme of the campaign was where were you when the decision was made and showed how your life is impacted when you fail to participate in the process. Since employment is considered a primary concern and corruption a major but lesser concern we designed a spot that used employment as its major theme and directed the piece towards a target audience of young male voters. The spot also showed how corruption influences your ability to find employment and undermines normal avenues of self improvement such as education.

The general theme of the campaign was where were you when the decision was made and showed how your life is impacted when you fail to participate in the process. Serbian voters expressed a great deal of concern about many areas but since this was a municipal election we chose to focus on the provision of utilities as a theme with a broad gender appeal.

Armenia Final Report
This report describes the details from IFES efforts to strengthen Armenia’s democratic structures from 1997 to 2002. The report discusses the development of election legislation, IFES support for the Central Election Commission and support for the overall electoral process and conduct of elections. The report further details the relationships formed by IFES with local and international NGOs, the development of an election resource center and election materials produced by the IFES team.

Constitutional Framework for Provisional Self-Government in Kosovo
Written by Kosovo and international legal experts and signed on May 16th, 2001 by United Nations Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) Chief Hans Haekkerup, “Constitutional Framework for Provisional Self-Government in Kosovo” outlines the structure of government in Kosovo after the November 17th, 2001 general elections. It details institutions soon to be under the control of Kosovo’s leaders and civil servants and includes basic voting information in an effort to further educate the public.
