Advancing Disability Rights in Southeast Asia through Regional Network of Advocates
In 2011, IFES established the General Election Network for Disability Access (AGENDA) across Southeast Asia. A creative partnership between disabled persons’ organizations (DPOs) and election-focused civil society organizations, AGENDA serves as a forum to improve access to political and electoral opportunities for persons with disabilities by increasing public awareness and elevating advocacy efforts that call for change.

Accessible Elections for Persons with Disabilities in Five Southeast Asian Countries
All too often, persons with disabilities are not included in the political lives of their country on an equal basis with others. Accessible Elections for Persons with Disabilities in Five Southeast Asian Countries is the first systematic attempt to gather data on election access from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines and Vietnam. The report reviews – for persons with disabilities – existing legal frameworks, challenges and barriers in exercising political rights and participation; best practices and innovations; and examples of how disabled persons organizations have been involved in electoral issues.

Published by the Namibia Institute for Democracy (NID) in 1999, the book entitled Democracy and You: A Guide to Better Understanding provides Namibians with general information and definitions regarding democratic governance and the structure of Namibian politics. In addition to outlines of the Namibian constitution and government, this book includes a civic education essay competition and repeatedly stresses the importance of democracy.

The Married Persons Equality Act
This document, published in 1997 by the Namibia Institute for Democracy, outlines the “The Married Persons Equality Act.” The acts primary goal was to abolish marital power and property law. The act outlines the legality of marriage, divorce, spousal rights to personal property and a minimum legal age to marry. Although not focusing on the electoral system this piece nevertheless is an example of the legislative process and civil society development.

Namibia Regional Council Election Ballot 1992
Ballot papers for regional elections held in Namibia between 30 November, and 3 December 1992. Two ballot papers are included. The first is from the Regional Council election from Opuwo. The second ballot is from the Local Authority Council election in Omaruru.
