Final Report: IFES Technical Assistance for Municipal Elections in the West Bank and Gaza

Global Lessons and Best Practices: Fighting Corruption and Promoting the Rule of Law Through Transparency, Openness and Judicial Independence
IFES believes all countries, including China, should publish an annual State of the Judiciary Report that will serve as both an internal and external tool that can be used by multiple stakeholders for multiple purposes, including promoting and systematically reporting on needed reforms and key issues. It should be disseminated to the public at large, as well as to targeted stakeholders, such as the business and human rights communities, bar associations, judges, reformers, policy-makers and donors. We believe the publication and distribution of the report will increase the quality and quantity of concrete information on the judiciary, more transparency, accountability and public awareness, qualitative comparative research and valuable cross-country lessons learned and judicial competition. Election Awareness Workshops for Palestinian Women, June 1994, West Bank & Gaza, Final Report
IFES convened a series of nine election awareness workshops in the West Bank and Gaza from June 16 to June 24, 1994. The workshops gathered Palestinian women political and community activists in 8 different localities. The workshops aimed at familiarizing participants with electoral issues to prepare women to mobilize for the Palestinian Council elections. This report summarizes IFES' findings from these workshops.

Pre-Election Assessment West Bank & Gaza
This pre-election assessment summarizes IFES findings from the West Bank and Gaza where IFES conducted a survey on the prospects and plans for Palestinian elections to be held under the framework of the September 13 Declaration of Principles. The assessment concludes that steps must be taken in order to hold elections that will be seen as legitimate in the eyes of Palestinians themselves and the outside world.

Palestinian Local Elections 2011
On Tuesday, 8 February 2011, the Palestinian Authority issued a renewed call for local elections to be held on 9 July 2011. The call follows last June’s Cabinet decision to cancel elections and the subsequent High Court ruling in December that the cancellation was, indeed, illegal.
