Knowledge and Opinions of the Electoral Process in Cambodia’s Pre-Election Period
Cambodians head to the polls on Sunday July 28 to elect a new National Assembly. In April and May, IFES commissioned a nationally-representative survey of 1,752 voting-age citizens and 10 focus groups in five provinces across Cambodia. Survey findings indicate Cambodians are interested in the election process but report moderate levels of information on the process overall. Data also shows Cambodians feel informed on certain aspects of the elections, although a significant portion express the need for more information.

Public Opinion of Democracy Issues in Kosovo: Findings from an IFES August 2012 Survey
From August 17-29, 2012, IFES partner Index Kosova conducted fieldwork and data processing to determine public opinion in Kosovo. The survey covered a sample size of 1,520 Kosovars and aimed to understand the adult population’s knowledge of key components of the election process; measure awareness on current electoral reform processes; analyze attitudes toward political participation; and measure citizen’s perceptions of the Central Election Commission.

Kosovo Civic Education Campaign
In the fall of 2012, IFES collaborated with six local partners in Kosovo to launch “Participate,” a civic education campaign aimed at increasing public awareness on democratic values. This includes independent voting; the role of women, youth and minority groups in election processes; roles and responsibilities of election management bodies; and electoral complaints. The campaign reached 33,883 voters through face-to-face activities; distributed 87,482 informational brochures, pamphlets and other printed material; and reached over 600,000 Kosovars through TV and radio programs, as well as newspaper articles. A Week in Cambodia
IFES’ Women’s Leadership program, conducted in five provinces across Cambodia the spring of 2011, sought to increase women’s personal development and leadership skills and knowledge of the election process. During the week of 14-21 September, some of the participants joined IFES staff in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap to discuss what they have learned. This week coincided with the Pchum Ben festival, during which Cambodians pay their respect to deceased relatives, and the 2011 voter registration period, which IFES witnessed. Results from the 2011 Post-Election Survey in Kosovo
Post-Election Public Opinion in Kosovo 2011, IFES’ third post-election survey in the country since 2008, is now available. The poll captures the perspectives of Kosovo citizens on matters such as perceptions of democracy, opinions on the December 2010 elections, and assessments of the overall situation in the country.
