DRC Civic Education Impact Evaluation
Civic education programs proliferated in the past few decades based on a strong belief that successful democratic consolidations require a strong and independent civil society that can mobilize and inform citizens who can then engage more effectively in politics, advocate on behalf of their own interests and hold their leaders accountable. Do these civic education programs really work? Are individuals exposed to these programs more likely to attain basic political knowledge, embrace democratic values, and engage more effectively in electoral and political processes?

Survey on the Effectiveness of the VOICE+ Voter Education Project in the DRC
IFES conducted a survey of voting-age adults in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) through face-to-face interviews in the fall of 2012. The survey was designed to evaluate civic and voter education activities implemented in Kinshasa, Bas Congo, Nord Kivu and Province Orientale, as part of the IFES Voter Opinion and Involvement through Civic Education Plus (VOICE+)Project.

CEDAW Anniversary: Making Women's Equality a Reality in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Although the constitution of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) makes provisions for parity between men and women with a view to fair and equitable participation in the management of the city (Mbuji-Mayi), this participation remains only theoretical, despite the country’s ratification of treaties on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women. Yet, many individuals around the world face barriers to full participation due to social, ethnic and economic inequalities. IFES Yemen Survey: Briefing Report 2012
Following Yemen's early presidential election in February 2012, IFES conducted a nationwide survey of voting-age adults in Yemen. Survey questions were designed to assess attitudes toward the 2012 presidential election and satisfaction with the current situation in Yemen by measuring availability of information leading up to the election and public perceptions of the electoral process.
