Sri Lanka Launches Computerized Voter Registry
Washington, DC – FEBRUARY 8, 2007 – Sri Lanka launched the country’s first computerized voter registry today, the result of a two-year project with IFES that began after the 2004 tsunami destroyed paper voter records in Galle. The tsunami showed how a natural disaster could potentially disenfranchise thousands of voters and consequently shake voters’ confidence in their democratic institutions.

IFES Deploys International Election Observers to Paraguay
A team of five international election experts led by IFES arrived in Paraguay this week to begin observation activities for the April 20 presidential and parliamentary elections. Elections in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville: 2015 General Elections
The May 2015 general elections mark the third elections for the House of Representatives for the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG), and the fourth elections for the President (including the by-election of 2008) since the Bougainville Peace Agreement was signed in August 2001. The agreement provided for elections to establish the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, which was formed after elections in 2005.
