IFES Conducts Comprehensive Gender Analysis in Kosovo
Being employed as a polling official is recognized as a critical part of women’s participation in political and electoral processes. In March 2014, IFES analyzed the gender composition of election management bodies at the municipal and precinct level during the 2013 Local Government Elections in Kosovo.

Breaking Barriers, Building Access: Creating a Culture of Inclusion in Kyrgyzstan
In an effort to increase civic participation among marginalized groups in Kyrgyzstan, in February 2018, IFES organized a contest for persons with disabilities, which provided them with an opportunity to design a project or activity that will increase access to decision-making processes. Aiperi, a participant from disabled people’s organization Nazik Kyz (“Tender Girl”), was awarded a small grant to make her project a reality.

Kosovo Taking Steps Toward Gender Equality in Election Administration
The issue of low representation of women among Kosovo's election staff was raised for the first time in March 2014 in IFES' report on gender breakdown of election staff in the 2013 municipal elections. A series of advocacy efforts was carried out to raiss awareness of the benefits of gender diversity in election staff and to encourage the nomination of more women to these positions.
